Wholly Sufficient

And the Lord said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. - Genesis 2:18

Ever since then, man has been a group of people. Man was not intended to live an isolated life. Looking forward through the scriptures, one sees that all great men had people around them. Every so often it is necessary for men to leave everything, and everyone, to seek solitude; understand however, that these are times when we seek God, and they are never meant to be permanent. Everyone needs time to be alone with God, but everyone needs to be surrounded by people of like mind who can support, encourage, and challenge them.

It is important then, that we are careful and prudent in those we bring close to our hearts, those friends whom we trust to support us. When God created Adam’s close helper, He did not mean to give Adam a new challenge or cause for which to fight. God rather gave him someone who would help him. Remember then, that we ought to surround ourselves with friends of good character, who will encourage and uplift us, rather than discourage and destroy us.
